Youth Soccer Night at the Oakland Roots: A Win for the Community and Accessibility

This year’s Youth Soccer Night with the Oakland Roots on October 7th was more than just an exciting evening of soccer, it was a celebration of community, youth, and accessibility.

For The Next Gen Soccer, a youth-led nonprofit founded by high school students, the night was a perfect match for their mission: keeping gently used soccer equipment out of landfills and putting it back into the hands of young players who need it most.

If you’d like to donate gear or learn more about getting involved, email us at info@thenextgensoccer.org

Throughout October, we’re picking up used soccer equipment right from your doorstep in Piedmont, Berkeley, and Oakland.

Next Gen Soccer Kicks Off Second Season of Giving

After a successful fall gear drive, The Next Gen Soccer is extending its community effort through November and December with free home pickups in Piedmont. The teen-led nonprofit is collecting gently used cleats, shin guards, soccer balls, and pinnies from rec clubs to give gear a second life and make soccer more accessible for all kids.
